Perils of Text Messaging

A 20-year-old Toowoomba man is about to spend three weeks in custody due to a spate of text messages, breaching a court order.

The Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard that between January 5 and April 16, Anthony Zorzi sent between 10 and 20 threatening and abusive text messages every day to his former girlfriend.

According to the Police Prosecution, as a consequence, the woman was fearful that Zorzi would assault her new boyfriend.

Zorzi pleaded guilty to breaching the court order, his solicitor from Bosscher Lawyers, Claire Graham advised the court her client had had difficulty accepting the break-up of the relationship and had since been diagnosed with depression.
