The Queensland Government has introduced a levy to offenders sentenced in a Queensland court
The purpose of the levy is to help pay for the cost of law enforcement and administration.
The levy is not an order of the court and does not form any part of the sentence imposed by a judge or magistrate.
The levy is payable on each sentencing event.
The amounts for the levy are:
Magistrates Court – $100
Supreme and District Courts – $300
The levy does not apply to children.
The levy is enforceable through the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER)
